Water Daily…..

July 27th, 2006

A gardening book recently pointed out the importance of water in the life of growing plants.  They simply can’t exist without it.  They may have been healthy and well cared for in the nursery, but in your backyard they’ll die without  periodic soaking.  Without water, plants fail to grow roots.  The water has to penetrate deeply enough to cause the tiny roots to reach downward searching it out.  A good rule of thumb, we are told, is about an inch of water a week.

The gardening book makes us think about how children are a lot like plants.  Children need the constant “watering” of encouragement.  If they don’t get it, they will wilt just like dried out marigolds, primroses, or garden peas.

So, this week, begin a regular “watering” of your most precious gifts.  ENCOURAGE your children and watch them grow into beautiful, strong and fragrant adults.
