when you next get the chance to observe nature, you will notice that nothing around you has straight lines. is either curved, crooked, bent or jagged. If you could imagine a hunter with a rifle around it, you would see them instantly. That is, without the proper ghillie suit to equalize this unnaturalness. Ghillie is an old Scottish term for a game warden. The were given the task protecting the game on their Lord's lands from poachers. While Hunters of today simply put on a hunting ghillie suit, the ghillies of the old days had a different way of catching prey. The ghillies would stalk the game by concealing themselves in the field and lying motionless. Waiting it out for unsuspecting game to walk by and then leap out and bringit down it with their hands. They would then transport their prize back to the keep so the Lord could shoot it in the castle courtyard in a mock hunt. Of course, most everyone is familiar with the standard camouflage articles. Jacket and pants with patterns that replicate nature by trying to offset the unnatural form of the person and their gear. This this type of clothing works. But if you have a need to go full out and mimic nature to the fullest, this can only be accomplished with what is known as a ghillie suit. They are used professionally by military snipers. Pictures of snipers looking half man and half bush have been seen in the news. It's because nothing in nature has straight lines, so equipment like guns and antennas most times betray hidden positions. To counter this, snipers fashion ghillies for their rifles. The most unnatural occurance in nature is the human form but the sniper knows that with the proper sniper ghillie suit,he can be almost undectable. The advantage you can gain over your target leaves people amazed. Airsoft and paintball players are continually impressed with the effectiveness of the paintball ghillie suit. These suits are used by the military and experiences of being walked over and stepped on during scenario games are not uncommen. Before buying your own ghillie suits, look at the environment around you in order to decide on the suit with the proper pattern. Generally, you will have 4 patterns to choose from and must rightly decide on the pattern that most perfectly matches the environment it will be used in.
